Hala Rajab

Hala Rajab was born in a village in Syria in 1992, into a communist family. His father, an opponent of the Syrian regime, spent several stays in prison, he stayed there 5 years before Hala’s birth. In 2011, the Syrian revolution began. Two years later, his father gave a conference in Cairo against the regime, he remained stuck for two years on the Syrian blacklists. The family wass threatened.

 

Hala was forced to stop her law studies to work.

 

In 2015, while trying to find his family, Hala’s father was arrested, tortured to death. Under threats, Hala and her sisters leaft Syria to join Lyon where Hala began film studies at the CinéFabrique. She is now a screenwriter, filmmaker, and actress.
