Ines Tanovic

Sarajevo

Ines Tanovic grew up in Mostar in Bosnia, with a Bosnian Muslim father and a Croatian Catholic mother. When the war broke out in 1992, his parents were separated and his sister was trapped in the siege of Sarajevo for three years. Ines is 9 years old when she is hit by a shell with fragments still in her body. Today she fights against ethnic divisions, for a participatory democracy and for the renewal of culture in Bosnia.
