Amir Hassan
GazaAmir Hassan grew up in the Al Shati camp near the beach in Gaza. At 18, he hears French spoken at university and decides to learn it. Four years later, he writes poems in French, wins prizes. At 20, he comes out for the first time from the Gaza Strip. He has a scholarship and teaches as an assistant, the Arabic language at Henry IV high school for 3 years. In recent years, he has been teaching and publishing poems. He has been in France for 10 years, lives and works in Paris as a journalist at France 24. He returned to Gaza to see his family just before the attacks of October 7, 2023.
He was stuck for a month, before being able to return to France. His parents, his little sister and his little brother were able to be evacuated and are housed in Clermont-Ferrand pending the outcome of their asylum application.
