New Delhi

Sumeet is part of the Dalit community, the “Untouchables”, also known as pariahs of the society in India’s caste system. He grew up in a village in Koraput District, where discrimination was particularly harsh. He says he was tied to a stake if he dared to enter the garden of a high caste family there. He learnt English on his own and entered the JNU University in Delhi in order to study literature and Dalit poetry. He is an activist fighting for the education of lower castes and also a rapper.
